This includes ways that ad messages can be linked (integrated) across multiple media channels (such as TV networks and the Internet). You will learn new efficient and effective ways to produce quality and efficient television commercials and understand new ways that advertisers can setup and control their own TV ad campaigns using web portals. Discover some of the new tracking capabilities that are installed in set top boxes that provide viewing information back to the television system. This viewer tracking software allows an advertiser to learn if their ad was watched and for how long the commercial was viewed.

I was hoping for more substantial (theory/applications) information---considering the expertise of the author---but this book is more like a glorified glossary. While it's good to have a terminology reference about digital advertising tech (which is slightly better than relying on Wikipedia) the title of the book should more accurately convey (in the title) how the content is set up, such as 'essential concepts.' I feel the title of the book falls short because I see that some readers believed the content was too technical; yet others (such as myself) didn't get as much technical information as was hoped for. I think the author should do another book on the subject...I sincerely believe he can provide lots more useful information !

This book is pretty technical. More about the systems and equipment that do TV
advertising. I wanted more on the actual production of the TV commercials and it does cover that but only one chapter on TV commercial production.

It does explain things fairly well and I learned. The diagrams are a bit cartoonish but they do help explain the concepts.

It covers some advertising methods that don't seem to be offered yet (such as web TV viewing skin ads and TV Widget Ads).
Holy crap, I can't believe I was suckered into buying this completely useless book. I would try to get some of my money back by selling it used but I might have too much integrity for that. The content in this book can basically be found in wikipedia. It basically picks a topic and just starts defining concepts in advertising...like Ad insertion, ad scheduling, viewer based advertising....etc. This is the entire book, with a few pathetic illustrations. It's like just the key terms and definitions section of a REAL book on advertising.
This is a very good book about understanding television advertising, and its various facets. I'd recommend it to anyone who is actively involved in the TV/broadcasting industry, or anyone who is interested in learning about the industry.
